This morning my mother emailed me to comment on the Al Green song (“How Can You Mend A Broken Heart”) I posted yesterday.
“I don’t understand how people could sing like that. It’s just a diffirent world. Once upon a time there was love and soul.”
This reminds of the Kathy Acker quote I opened my book Beauty Talk & Monsters with:
“Up until the 1970s the ancient world, the world which is daily life and thinking and loving, existed—but it was swept away. From the age of innocence we’ve passed to the age of corruption.”
